Kaarina Kilpiö
Kaarina Kilpiö writes about topics related to the use of music and music technology in various contexts. These can be, for example, the use of music in everyday life and the daily practices of music listeners, the use of sound elements in audiovisual messages or public / commercial soundscapes.
Kilpiö is Doctor of Political Science and Associate Professor of Social History of Music. She works at the MuTri Doctoral School and the History Forum within the University of the Arts Helsinki. In 2019–22, she was on research leave, first participating in Åbo Akademi University’s research project DIMM (The impact of digitalisation on minority music) and then in the ACMESOCS (Auditory Cultures, Mediated Sounds and Constructed Spaces) project of the University of Eastern Finland.
