We got your back – Every step of the way!
Student Ambassador Siiri shares which student organizations are here to support your well-being, rights and daily life throughout your journey at the University of the Arts Helsinki.

Studying at the University of the Arts Helsinki (Uniarts) is an exciting experience, but it can also feel overwhelming at times. Whether you’re adjusting to a new country, figuring out student life, or just trying to find the right classroom, one thing’s for sure: you’re not alone. At Uniarts, a whole community is here to support you from day one.
Just got admitted? Student Ambassadors have your back!
As you get familiar and prepare for this new chapter, you probably have a lot of questions. That’s where our Student Ambassadors come in.
We’re current students who are here to help you understand what life at Uniarts and in Helsinki is really like. Whether you’re curious about housing, course structures or the best coffee spots near campus, we’re happy to share our experiences. We also create content on social media and offer campus tours to help you get familiar with your new environment.

Arriving on campus? Tutors have your back!
Fast forward to August when your studies are about to begin. The big move-in, orientation, and your first classes. It’s exciting, but it can be a bit chaotic as well. There’s no need to worry because our Tutors are here to help you settle in!
Tutors are fellow students who support new students through their first weeks at Uniarts. They’ll help you find your way around campus, connect with new people, and handle the practicalities of student life. Think of them as your first friends in this new community!
Need support along the way? The Student Union has your back!
Once you’ve settled in, you may still face questions, challenges, or things to celebrate (and yes, there are many!). Throughout your studies, the University of the Arts Student Union (TaiYo) is here for you.
TaiYo is your voice at Uniarts. It advocates for your rights, builds a sense of community, and works to make student life better, both within the university and beyond. From academic concerns to social events, TaiYo is an essential part of student life.
TaiYo is an umbrella organization for Academy Committees and Department Clubs which bring together students of the same subject or field, promoting their interests and organizing activities.

Not just local – National support has your back too
Support doesn’t stop at Uniarts. On a national level, you’re also represented by SYL, the National Union of University Students in Finland. SYL speaks on behalf of over 140,000 university students, working to ensure fair policies and better education across the country.
SYL is also part of the European Students’ Union (ESU), which is the umbrella organisation of 45 National Unions of Students from 40 countries.
