Creative Demo Day presented art-based pitches in official Slush 2023 side-event

Once again Creative Demo Day organized together with Aalto Digital Creatives highlighted interesting creative and art-based business ideas. This time the event was held hybrid.

Inspirational pitches from previous and current Uniarts Hub participants

Eero Saunamäki, The Recorder Guru

Eero Saunamäki is Finland’s most renowned recorder player, known for his innovative solo performances, soloist appearances with symphony orchestras, numerous recorder premieres, and media presence. He stands out as a prominent figure in his generation.

Christian Lafertte, HC Photo Studio

Cristian Lafertte is a Chilean Photographer. He is in a constant pursuit blending creativity and technical skill to convey emotion and tell compelling visual stories. He introduced HC PHOTO STUDIO.

Vilja Autiokyrö ja Gerd Norrgård, Livett

Gerd Norrgård and Vilja Autiokyrö have diverse backgrounds in audiovisuals, culture and finance. They teamed up a year ago to build a new concept for performing arts that is easy, accessible and of course enjoyable.

Kuralay Meirbekova, Craftylab

Kuralay Meirbekova is a mixed-media artist born in Kazakhstan, currently based in Helsinki. She has worked with various art forms, such as installation, textile art, painting. She has been exploring the nature of continuous line drawing and figurative painting for the past eight years. Today she would like to share a story about Craftylab, a cosy place where you can explore your creativity.

Thomas Velissaris, Process Mimesis

Thomas Velissaris is a performer and educator currently living in Vaasa. He is interested in making theatre by creating and supporting communities of diversity. He has already tested his ideas through a performing arts pedagogy program implemented in collaboration with Vaasa City Culture Services – the “Festival of Emotions”.

Noora Geagea, NOAGEA

Noora Geagea is a visual artist originally from Helsinki. Her work often deals with different manifestations of movement and change within our bodies and minds. Her works have been shown in various museums and galleries in Finland and abroad over the past years.

An international expert jury gave valuable feedback and shared their expertise

Jury members collectively agreed that they heard very inspirational and innovative ideas. The jury consisted of Helene Auramo, Anu Oksanen, Heikki Laaninen and Xander Ross.

Helene Auramo is the CEO, Chief Ethical Officer & Co-Founder of Prönö. She is also an entrepreneur and Co-Founder of Slush (Europe’s biggest startup event), Zipipop (the first social media agency in Finland), and Indiedays (the first fashion blogger site in Finland). 

Anu Oksanen is currently working as a business advisor in Business Helsinki. Anu has over 20 years’ experience training and mentoring entrepreneurs and working on startup development.

Heikki Laaninen is currently working as project manager in Games go! Project in Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. prior to that Heikki has been successfully licensing Finnish design and entertainment brands in global markets.

Xander Ross is a film, TV and games PR specialist with an extensive background in international content markets and key industry events such as MipTV and Edinburgh TV Festival. Currently he’s running a London based PR company called Percy&Warren.

About Uniarts Hub

Uniarts Hub pre-incubator programme will culminate in a live pitching event at the Academy of Fine Arts on 12 December 2023 at 4 PM – 6 PM. The current Uniarts Hub participants will pitch their business ideas for the audience and jury.

The pre-incubator program runs twice a year and the next call for applications will open in 12 December 2023. The next batch starts in 27 February 2024.
