Where to Find Events in Helsinki?
5 resources from where you can discover various events in Helsinki, from arts and culture to sports.
When we study at our academies, we are deeply immersed in our own fields and stay well-informed about what’s happening in Helsinki within those circles. But how do you discover events, concerts, and exhibitions outside your field? Here, I will share five resources to help you explore a wide variety of events in Helsinki, from arts and culture to sports.
Menokone
This website is run by Helsinki’s newspaper, Helsingin Sanomat. It’s one of the largest event resources in Helsinki, offering a wide range of event categories. You can find events happening across the city and throughout the entire capital region, making it easy to locate activities near your home. The website is in Finnish, but you can still discover plenty of events that are accessible to English speakers.
Stadissa.fi
Stadissa is another website showcasing events primarily within Helsinki. While there’s some overlap with Menokone, many people find Stadissa easier to navigate. Like Menokone, this website is in Finnish, but it’s still a great tool for finding interesting happenings in the city.
Shape Helsinki
Shape Helsinki is a map tailored mostly to fine arts. I think it’s one of the best resources for discovering cultural events in Helsinki! The map is a project created and maintained by two cultural organizations, Publics and Kohta, and it provides an excellent list, map, and calendar of events.
MyHelsinki.fi
The city of Helsinki’s official website is another great place to find events. It often highlights happenings at major venues like museums and concert halls, but you can also find interesting tours and smaller activities featured occasionally.
Uniarts Events
As part of the University of the Arts, it’s important to support each other and attend events across different academies. Uniarts students get discounts and even free entry to many events within the university, so it’s a great opportunity to explore the work of future stars in Finnish culture!
Life of an art student
In this blog, Uniarts Helsinki students share their experiences as art students from different academies and perspectives, in their own words. If you want to learn even more regarding studying and student life in Uniarts and Helsinki, you can ask directly from our student ambassadors.
