CfAR grants for postdoctoral researchers’ productions and research dissemination
Application period 7.2.2022 – 6.3.2022
The Centre for Artistic Research (CfAR) awards grants to postdoctoral researchers at Uniarts Helsinki for artistic productions that are a part of their research, or for dissemination of their work in the field of Artistic Research.
While the production/event for which the applicant seeks support may take place beyond 2022 (such as an exhibition or performance), costs for which a grant is being sought need to be spent between 21.3.2022 and 30.11.2022 (for administrative reasons). The application is open to all staff members of Uniarts Helsinki, including salaried postdoctoral researchers and visiting researchers. The scheme prioritizes a new generation of postdoctoral researchers and those with a connection to CfAR.
The funding is granted for either (a) the costs incurred as part of a production in Artistic Research, or (b) the costs incurred in the dissemination of work in Artistic Research. These can include, for example, for (a) renting of an event/performance/exhibition space for a specific production or dissemination, purchase of material, payments for ordering of compositions, remuneration for assistants, travel expenses or documentation costs, or (b) costs incurred for active participation in a conference/symposium, such as conference fees, accommodation, and travel. The production can have members from outside of Uniarts Helsinki.
Given the limited amount (the total budget of approximately 5.000 euros in this call), we kindly ask you to keep the applied sum on a moderate level. The applicant is responsible for managing all possible taxes and side costs involved (within the sum granted). For applicants who are salaried at Uniarts, the costs may be handled as reimbursement and not as grant due to taxation reasons.
A networking event will be organised for the successful applicants at the beginning of autumn 2022, where the grantees will be invited to share insights and news from their project.
A report on the grant must be submitted within two months after the production/event taking place. The grant may be recovered if the report is not submitted. The grant cannot be carried over to a later date. The grant recipient is also obliged to enter the outcomes on CRIS.
Application
The online application form is available here
The application form along with its attachments must be submitted no later than 6 March 2022 at 23:59 (Finnish time).
The application consists of the online grant application form and a written application document as a pdf file attachment (maximum 6 pages in total).
The written application documents must include:
a) a letter of motivation which describes the research project, the execution method, the project’s relation to the production/dissemination event for which the grant is being sought, and the schedule including details of the extent to which the plan is progressing
b) a budget
c) a CV in no more than 2 pages within the maximum of 6 pages.
The budget must state all the sources that are providing funding for the project. The applicant is encouraged to state contingency scenarios in case some of the funding does not materialise. Name the attachment with your own name (for example, Lahdeoja.pdf). The written application is to be sent in with the online form.
Late applications will not be considered. The decision regarding grant recipients is scheduled to be made by the end of March.
For applicants who have a working contract at Uniarts, the costs will be handled as reimbursement and not as a grant (receipts will be needed, against which the awarded amount will be paid).
