Uniarts Helsinki’s Uniarts Hub project, Aalto Digital Creatives and Startup Refugees organised an event called Creatives Meetup on 21 May at G Live Lab. Students participating in the pre-incubator programme hosted by Uniarts Helsinki and Aalto University pitched their business idea to an audience and a jury. The event was open for everyone, and it was held in English. The event concluded this spring’s Uniarts Hub programme at Uniarts Helsinki. The application period for the next edition of the programme starts in August.

Thursday Forum meetings take place in the afternoon, from 1 pm to 2.30 pm. The meetings start with a presentation of an hour and half, including discussion on any questions raised, followed by another hour and half (2.45 pm to 4 pm) of discussion on an academic text (or seminar paper) related to the theme of the day (so-called “extra time”). Thursday Forum will be arranged in Music Centre Helsinki (Töölönlahdenkatu 16, Helsinki, meeting room 3101) and it is also possible take part to the event online on Zoom.

Jean Sibelius (1865–1957) was a well-known composer outside Finland already in the early 20th century. In the 1930s, his fame grew into new spheres. At that stage, Sibelius himself had already stopped publishing new masterpieces. According to Janne Mäkelä`s blog post it was radio that catapulted him to global fame.

The Sibelius Academy Symposium on Music History is a biennial scholarly congress which, in its 15-year history, has grown into an internationally high-quality event. This year’s event, which will take place from 5-7 June at Helsinki Music Centre, will focus on the economic links between music and musicians, the music business logic and the links between music, aesthetics and economics from a historical perspective.
